Donor Egg IVF is an IVF cycle that uses another woman’s eggs (usually a young healthy and fertile donor) which is then fertilized and implanted into the recipient’s uterus.
Whether from age or medical conditions, some women’s eggs are unable to produce a successful pregnancy. In these cases, eggs from a thoroughly vetted egg donor can be used for in vitro fertilization (IVF). Sperm and your donor eggs are combined in the embryology lab to create fertilized embryos. The embryos are then placed into the uterus of the carrier to develop into a pregnancy. IVF has been used for 30+ years. It’s the most common method of medically assisted pregnancy, with the highest success rates.
We help you review information on egg donors’ health history, family history, education, and life story, so you can make the most informed decision.
Oma uses Oma Sperm InSight™ and our proprietary AI microscope, which together help our embryologists select the most promising sperm cell for IVF with donor egg.The microscope helps them analyze 20x more sperm cells than a traditional microscope in the same amount of time. Oma Sperm InSight is our AI technology that identifies the most promising sperm based on criteria from the World Health Organization.
Embryo incubation uses the latest technology that allows for precise control of the environment and maximum chances for your embryos to mature.
Pre-implantation genetic testing (PGT) to assess embryo viability is included and done with top partner labs.
Gold-standard method intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) is always included at no extra cost. ICSI has a ~72% fertilization rate compared to ~60% for regular IVF.

Go through diagnostic testing to determine if IVF with donor eggs is right for you. An Oma staff member will go over the financial side of the donor egg IVF process with you. Your clinical team will review next steps and prepare you for your cycle.
Before you begin the donor egg IVF process, your partner (or the sperm donor) will provide a sperm sample in our office.
Our donor egg bank partners have comprehensive information on their health history, family history, education, and lifecycle story, so you can make the most informed decision. Our doctor and staff are here to answer your questions and to help you understand the donoregg process, choose the right donor for you, and feel at ease. We’ll assist you in:
During the evaluation cycle, you’ll take estrogen and we’ll use blood tests and ultrasounds to observe how your uterine lining is developing. This is a donor egg treatment process to see what levels of hormones you need to successfully prepare for the embryo transfer. This cycle usually takes four to six weeks.
The donor egg and sperm are combined to fertilize the eggs.
This outpatient procedure doesn’t require sedation––it’s quick and often compared to the sensation of a pap smear. Any high-quality embryos left over can be frozen for use in future IVF cycles.
After the transfer, our team will administer pregnancy tests and other monitoring as needed to care for your developing pregnancy.
All IVF appointments at Oma Fertility are outpatient procedures, meaning you never have to stay overnight at our clinic.
Yes. Our team of Care Advocates can help you coordinate details including the transfer of frozen eggs/sperm or frozen embryos from another clinic.
IVF success rates using donor eggs are quite high, which is encouraging since 12% of IVF patients use them for the embryo transfer. You can read more about IVF success rates here.
Donor Egg IVF costs $17,500, and like all of Oma Fertility’s pricing it is a flat price without hidden fees, surprise costs or inflated margins.

Donor Egg IVF is designed for women who are unable to provide their own eggs for fertilization. When you use Donor Egg IVF through Oma, eggs from a thoroughly vetted donor can be used for IVF. The IVF process will remain the same as in any other case, however instead of your own eggs, the donor eggs will be combined with sperm to create embryos.
The process to choose your donor can be variable. Your donor banks can provide more information. The process to create embryos via IVF typically takes about two weeks. After that, it takes another 3 weeks to grow them out. Once this step is complete, you can proceed with your transfer cycle.
When doing IVF with an egg donor, a healthy lifestyle is always important when starting IVF of any kind. Exercise and a nutritious diet are both important. Your doctor will also recommend you begin taking a daily prenatal vitamin before conception. Lastly, stress-reducing activities like mediation, yoga or acupuncture are also a good idea as less stress is better for your overall health.
IVF can result in a range of side effects during the various stages and procedures. You can read about day-by-day signs and symptoms of embryo transfer here. Additionally, with IVF there is an increased risk of multiple pregnancies.
